5 months old

you are now 5 months old! such a big girl and getting bigger everyday! at your last doctors appointment you weighed almost 12 pounds.
you are now able to roll over, from your belly to your back and your back to your belly. also you are finally getting the hang of playing with toys. you are able to pick things up and insert into your mouth with great ease!
i finally succumbed to the pacifier. mama chris told me that she gives it to you at nap time. since i have been having such a rough time getting you to nap on weekends, i decided to give it a shot. works like a charm! this also seems to cut down on your hand sucking time, plus you look way cuter with the pacifier than with your fist. as oma keeps saying, "she is just a baby that wants to suck". well i gave in, suck away my little one! both you and i are much more content with this arrangement!
eating is going really well also. you are still eating cereal, but we have also been introducing new fruits and veggies. for sure your favorite is sweet potatoes, but you seem to do pretty well with everything. we are now using your high chair and that makes things so much easier!
on top of the rolling over, you have also learned two more new things this month. i might call them bad habits, but i am sure they will pass in time. first of all, you have finally mastered the art of putting your foot/toes in your mouth. you have been working on this for quite some time so i guess i am happy that you finally did it. secondly, in the past week, you have learned how to spit. sort of like a "raspberries" kind of spitting i guess. at first it was pretty cute, but then you started doing it with food in your mouth.
the best thing you started doing this month is laughing! it is just the cutest little giggle and it makes my heart hurt because it is so darn sweet.

high chair

today was belas first time using the high chair! such a big girl. actually she looks like a little peanut in it! she chowed down some sweet potatoes and bananas though! she is really turning into a good eater. where was this kid when i was trapped in the hospital for 5 days?

working girl

i brought bela to work with me this morning so my coworkers could ooh and ahh over her!! they sure did! then oma came at about 9:30 to pick her up. i wanted to just keep her here all day long!!!
also she woke up twice last night, but it was at 9:30 and 12:30. so that was kinda weird.

bela did fine last night at omas. she had her first sleepover, her first mommy free night. i miss her! cant wait to see her after work

another first

happy easter, blah blah blah. anyhow bela is sleeping over oma and grandpas tonight! my first whole night away from my little peanut. on the upside i am going to have my first whole nights sleep in i dont know how long. most likely i will still wake up thinking i hear her crying.

mommy stuff

on the mommy front. tomorrow i am going to see the yeah yeah yeahs with chris, my sister and her husband! can't wait for that! fun times will be had by all, this will be my first post baby rock show.

bela-1 mommy-0

so the night of nine hours sleeping has come and gone. last night she slept 5 hours and then 4. not bad, but not great either.
in other news, bela roled over yesterday! unfortuantely for me she was as daycare when it happened. when i dropped her off this morning chris asked me, "has she rolled over yet?" i replied that she had come close, but not quite. she then told me that she did yesterday, i think she felt bad telling me. i will have to try witness it on my own tonight!

little sleeper

bela slept nine hours last night! it was amazing. although i didnt get any more sleep than usual. i still kept waking up and wondering when she was going to wake up. its a vicious cycle.

sick or not sick

another weekend has come and gone. ugh. bela was sick for the better part of the week and carrying into yesterday. she seems okay today, but i guess only tomorrow will tell whether she is all better. some sort of a stomach virus is what i am going to name it. i wont get into the gory details, i will let you form your own.
she is starting to play with toys now, it is really cute as you can see.
we spent the night at my parents last night. always good times! i had a fun night with the folks and k&k. good food, scrabble. thats all you need. oh and also my mom+wine=funny. she is the best.
back to work tomorrow though.. gag.. wish i could just have one more day of baby time.

photo shoot

i took bela to get her pictures taken on saturday at sears! she had her first "photo shoot" as daddy called it. she was so good! she smiled in most of the pictures and had her tongue sticking out, as usual, in the rest.

over n out

another weekend has come and gone. well almost. i feel so over run, pushed to the breaking point. hopefully that will be changing soon. brett is trying to give me some time to myself. not that i dont love every moment with bela, but i need a night here and there for me. kinda sad when the most i have to look forward to during the week is 45 minutes to run to target and then rush home. so we will see how it all works out after this week. then hopefully i will be able to make plans during the week and do some running around. as things are now, i end up running myself and bela all over the place on saturday and sunday since they are my only free days. poor kiddo. poor mommy.
